Josh became the Pastor in October 2022 and has served Mount Vernon Baptist Church as Student Minister since August 2018. Before serving Mt. Vernon, he served on staff at three churches in Georgia.

Josh desire to see people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and is the driving force behind his passion for preaching God's Word and planning events for people to encounter the Gospel.

He enjoys traveling with family, playing golf and watching SEC football where you will catch him yelling "GO DAWGS!"

He has been married to Misty since 2005 and they have 2 daughters, Kendall and Lexi. Josh is quick to tell everyone that "Misty is the best part of the deal."

Steve has served Mount Vernon Baptist Church since June 2003. He previously served churches in Georgia, Florida, Arkansas and Alabama.

Steve has a passion for music. He wants to lead our congregation to worship the One True King. He leads not only the adult choir but also the children's choir. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and spending time with his family (especially his grandson Zeke).

He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Steve is married to Shirley, who also serves in the music ministry with him. They have 2 sons and 1 grandson.

After 25 years of teaching, Jainia has currently retired from the Walker County School System. She earned both her B.A. and M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

The Preschool and Children’s Ministries at Mt Vernon have always been a love of hers. She truly believes that children are an essential part of the church, both present and future. Her favorite part of teaching children is that moment when the understanding of God’s love for them appears all over their faces.

She has been married to Bobby since 1993 and they have two children, Baylee and Zac and a wonderful son-in-law, Jake. Jake and Baylee are currently expecting their first child, and Bobby and Jainia’s first grand baby, Charlotte.
